When you look into the mirror, do you like what you see? Does that reflection bring a smile on your face, automatically? Are you able to look yourself right in the eyes with confidence and pride? Think hard.

Life would have been definitely easy if all us had our personal Mjölnir – aka Thor’s hammer, to tell us whether we are worthy or not. But since most of us are mere humans so, we have to assess our self-worth by different scales and measures which our society deems fit.

And before you guys start digging all your gold and hidden treasures, let me stop you because it isn’t about money or your ancestry riches, at least I hope not.

How do you judge your self-worth? What parameters do you think are important and necessary? Are these parameters universal? And so on…

The more we are moving ahead in time, more we are losing our mental peace. We all are so afraid of lagging behind in this race to succeed that we have stopped thinking about where exactly are we going or what is it that we are running after. And thus most of us, including me, are not satisfied with where we are.

We constantly punish ourselves thinking we don’t deserve to be happy, just yet. As we all have our final goals cut out for us, either by our own expectations or from those of our families, and until that goal is reached we believe that nothing is worth getting happy about. Believing this we forget that even if we cross that final line there will be another line, much farther away, to cross.

There will always be an another line to cross.

We all have, due to the society which we live in, attached our self worth to various artificial things, like money; property; career; job; an ideal body shape; body weight; flimsy beauty standards and what not! And we always fall short in each respect once we start comparing ourselves to the set standards and hence come all the mental disorders.

We fail to notice that all these said standards are only man-made and nothing has been set in stone; we have the right to take things at our own pace and our success and goals cannot be defined on the biased standards set by people who don’t have a clue about what we are or what we want.

I choose to believe that we are a bit more than our job, career, money we own, cars we drive, or how we look. Don’t you think so?

Our self worth should come from something which is beyond all the misconstrusions forged by our kind. What do you think? How do you assess your self worth? What parameters you think we should consider?

We need that hammer, don’t we?

  1. Others get to know our self worth in our absence maybe in work-life or managing things in personal life. We get to know our self worth in others absence (maybe teammate, partner or parents) or when we are faced with adversity.

    I loved how you took the reference of Mjölnir, to start topic.

      Ha! That reference was the first thing that came to my mind once I asked myself “Are you worthy?”, I could see Odin with his giant stick suggesting me to pick up Mjölnir.🤣 (That’s enough crazy, and look at me talking about mental health😂😅)
